How do UPS drop-off locations work? ›

UPS Access Point® locations help merchants save time on fulfillment. Just drop off your UPS shipment with the UPS prepaid label attached and your delivery is underway. Packages are stored securely at these locations until they're picked up by a UPS driver.

Your package is called a “Drop off” and while the UPS store may scan it for their records and any financial compensation they may get from UPS for handling the package; a pre-labeled drop off package isn't scanned into the UPS system by the UPS Store.

If you are sending an item larger than the UPS Drop Box size limit, you may need to consider alternative shipping methods. UPS stores and authorized shipping centers can handle larger packages, as will scheduling a UPS pickup. Additionally, UPS offers freight services for larger and heavier items.

When selecting the method for returning your Amazon purchase, choose The UPS Store Dropoff. You don't need to have your items boxed or labeled. Instead, The UPS Store will pack, label and ship your return for free. UPS will email you a return shipping code ahead of time that you'll need to show to an employee.

With UPS Mail Innovations Returns, your customers can conveniently return their packages using their mailbox, postal carrier, local post office or any postal drop box nationwide. In addition, customers can call the USPS for a free pickup right from their doorstep.

There are a few reasons why your package status may not be updated right away: If you drop your package off after hours, USPS or UPS won't scan it in until the next day. It's in queue at a USPS or UPS facility. The postal workers or UPS workers scanning packages simply didn't get to it that day.

How does FREE Returns work? All return-eligible items, weighing under 50 lbs and sold by Amazon, have at least one free return option. You can return the item for any reason in new and unused condition for up to 30 days after purchase.
