I know these heavily edited videos take a lot of effort but man, your work is such an important resource for the Hunt community. It's so hard to get new players into this game so these guides are incredibly helpful.

Never go above 4* if you can help it.

My top 3 beginner loadouts:
1) Primary weapon: Winfield M1873, with iron eye and levering traits (this gun with levering is best way for a new hunter play Hunt: very good for close and medium range, a lot bullets in magazine and speed shoting); secondary weapon: any versatille weapon, like hand crossbow or bow, or Caldwell 92 New Army if don’t have levering for close range.
2) Primary weapon: Caldwell Rival 78; secondary weapon: Caldwell Conversion Pistol.
3) Primary weapon: Martiny-Henry IC1; secondary weapon: Caldwell 92 New Army.
These loadouts must be followed in order so that the new hunter adapts to the different types of weapons in the game and becomes a minimally decent hunter.

I'm a new player and this helped me greatly! I barely saw any recent videos that made sense to me and this was perfect. Thank you so much

Romero 77 + Scotfeild Model 3 is one of the best combos IMO

Also a good top for beginners is that you can choke the butcher to prevent fire damage and burnt bars while take him down. Not good if another team arrives and your down a bar.

I immediately know I played with someone who watched this vid because i had a new player absolutely decimate the boss lair with poison clouds. Obviously the one game i decide not to bring an anitdote shot. It would have been nice if he used it better because he not only trapped our whole team inside lair, killed both me and the other third when we went to rotate, but he didnt even hurt ANY of the enemies XD Never would I assume there would come a day that I met a hunter better at teamkilling than legitimate killing. Please, if you're new and reading this, understand that your weapons and tools hurt your teammates as well.

One of my favorite beginner guns is running the Springfield. The bullet velocity takes a bit to get used to but it's dirt cheap. Half reg half bleed is just so sweet with it lol

Hand Crossbow normal bolts are also really great for spider because you get to do damage every time he stops instead of waiting for him to be close enough to melee.. Half normal half poison will get you through every boss at a decent pace.

Whilst I agree on the Winfield giving you more shots to take, I feel the Martini trains you better to make the decision to find cover and reload actively. Couple it with the Caldwell Conversion pistol and I find it a very cheap high accuracy loadout that instills good instincts and rewards correct play. Standing out in the open trying shot after shot with the Winny just because you can is a bad habit.

thanks Mike for the nice video ^^ since i keep prestiging atm i mostly have no variants and money, so the first thing i play at lvl 1 is actually the Centeniel and pax and i play through them since it has all the Ammo types in the game (except ofc dragon breath, spitzer, slug, flechette, shredder, explosiv ) it helps alot doing the weekly becouse its really good for exp and money income . also both weapon are really good at all ranges (centi at medium to long and pax close with fanning ) your thought?

Also: resilience is probably the best trait in the game. It's definitely worth the respec cost to put it on your hunter.

Sometimes i reflect on my plays and find things to change but i never get disappointed with romero

Been playing this game for years and with all the options available HV Aperture Winnie is by far my favorite gun, longer headshot range than i ever need, toggleable aperture makes it good for short, medium and decently long range, cheap and with just iron eye and levering it becomes the most versatile head clicker and emergency mob clearer and i like to pair it with the fairly new katana (used to be saber) for quiet games or a Romero Hatchet for the close up 1 shot potential while still having a mob clearing melee. I just wish we could get a smithy hammer as a melee tool with the same stats as the heavy knife but blunt instead of rending, that would complete the build perfectly

After over 3000 hours, my favorite weapon is still the Vetterli. It has a good punch, especially with FMJ ammo, shoots fast, can be easily resupplied and you can combine it with a melee weapon, a hand crossbow, silenced pistol, or a regular pistol if you're too vanilla for the cool shit.

Vetterli with high velocity is my fav pick.

Cheater gets caught blatantly using cheats and bragging about them. Tries to lie his way outta it.

Even if this is one month old already, i enjoy the romero loadout alot aswell but i like to use incendiary ammo insteam of dumdum cause it lights peiple up, so you can follow their movement a little more easy and adds another layer of pain when you have a pennyshot loaded.

As you said, just like the sparks, it's not forgiving for new players, and rival definitly will help less experienced players if they miss a shot or over-estimate the one shot range for their shotgun (since they can fire twice!).

I am a little sad you didn't showcase a Winfield loadout for us. Though I just took your first showcase and put the Winnie C with FMJ on it. Works great. Just use levering for close encounters instead of the Vetterli's bayonet.

I actually think that the Sparks is actually a good beginner Weapon. Firstly, because almost no gun rewards you as much for landing bod-shots, with the WInnie for example you need to land your headshots however. Secondly, I think that this gun teaches you how to play gunfights in the game very well. In hunt you are generally supposed to play more methodically, where you get into a position to attack, fire, retreat, reposition and repeat. This is very unlike many other shooters, but guns with a higher fire rate dont teach you this as well because while its not the optimal way to play the game most of the time, those weapons don't make that fact obvious and reward you more for treating hunt like another shooter, where once you blast your enemy, you generally keep blasting until one of you is dead. With the SPark however you are forced into play Hunt the way it is best played, most effectively teaching one of the most important aspects of the game imo.

Honestly, I don't reccomend the Winfield to new hunters. Feels like a "noob trap."
The Scottfield Spitfire with high velocity ammo has the same range/velocity as a Winfield with a much faster fire rate and medium ammo. A fast rate of fire pistol lets you take any 3 sized weapon, while still performing just as well if not better than any Winfield variant (and still cheap).

I think that the 1 shot of the Romero is really intimidating for new players. I had a friend I introduced to hunt and he really didn’t like the Romero, while the Rival was a much better fit for him. Otherwise, I think that the Winfield and Vetterli are two perfect guns for new players, and the loadouts were solid!

Vetterli bayonet kills are the most satisfying melee kills.

Starting to get back into hunt after about 1 year or so. Couple questions on new stuff.
1. How does the self revive work? Is it only for solos cos I swear I got killed by a self revived duo the other day
2. Did flare pistols always set fire to bodies? I used to run one before they added axes to kill armoureds but swear they never set fire to downed hunters? Do fusees do the same?
Glad to see my old favourite loadout of vetterli/winnie with a hand crossbow is still viable. Will the the Trueshot a go, always loved running the Pax with a big crossbow for range

30:34 one of the situations when this game really pisses me off, clearly a headshot. At least it would be a headshot in any other FPS game that I play. I have similar moments too often. Hitreg in Hunt is something else.

No love for the new caldwell marathon? It has a really good hipfire spread and shoots fast with a lot of easy to resupply ammo, all very good traits for beginners.

These new cheats are top tier... Boom headshot. That made me laugh.

I don't get the idea of Alamo. You shoot almost as slow as a vanilla Romero, but when you run out of ammo in the magazine you will have to spend a couple of minutes readying it up.

I have something with the winnies, that I ended having more mastering with Sparks and bow than with winnies....

I've come back after a 3-4 month hiatus and started to notice more often that I do not kill people with compact ammo after 3 hits. I like HV on Winnie but game after game I do not kill people on like 35-40 meter range. It's quite annoying.

I have 350 Hours played now. The Winfield is my favourite gun!! Only the Range sucks, but still Overall super nice!

What headphones do you use?

I sadly can't play the Romero, I miss way too many shots and either die to a 2 tap or a melee charge.

My "I don't want to spend money but I want to play solo" loadout has been the WInnie Sniper and Baseball Bat. As long as you get levering it's fine, and you can always upgrade the gun to something else if things go well. Bat just dominates in PVE especially during this event when you can take Berserker for double melee damage.

the regular winfiled is one of the most complicated guns in the game.....
slow bullet speed, needs 2 perks and its stupid low damage requests the user to go for the head everytime.
Also the ironsight is very thin. This game is very browny, gray-dark and makes players lose the ironsight when aiming.
shotguns or long ammo with dmg > 125 is must-have until we reach the next event.
single-bullet rifles teach you to value your bullets and later improves your aim with the more fast firing bullets. Also they come with 0 necessary perks (or any at all)

Those cheats are CRISP, jokes aside, your face was priceless.

Top tip for beginners:
Use dual pistols, they are very satisfying and arguably much better at compound fighting than shotguns. Doubly so once you unlock FMJ ammo on your pistols of choice. If you bring an ammo box, don't be afraid to shoot through walls if you know somebody is on the other side.
Also, don't write off the crossbow and hunting bow. If you ask me, they beat shotguns 9 times out of 10 when it comes to fighting in compounds.

The sparks is something you only start using once more comfortable in hunt, the Martini Henry though despite being single shot is an immense piece of kit for any beginners and similarly the Springfield is also nothing to consider bad for a new player. Single shot but is the cheapest "main" weapon in the game and yet can still punch up fairly well, along with a short reload time.
All good stuff...but mike...

Hunt is the only game I play where the developers just keep nerfing and making things worst. Meanwhile cheaters are using filters and who knows what else to get an advantage, those just playing the game will eventually get tired of being squeezed for playing the game. The game is like gambling, so it's only good enough to keep you coming back. Until you realize you have a problem lol

always bringing in cheap stuff get a kill then steal the other players loadout. great way to hinder your opponent and get some pricey gear. (yes money stops being a factor the longer you play) the sooner you get over gear fear and losing a hunter the more fun you will have and the more unique loadouts you'll craft.

"Winfield Centennial" is infinitely better than Vetterli for beginners in this game. No offence to the author here, but all this "Old Hunt players" have no idea how it is actually like to be a completely new Hunt player this days. "Oh but but but what about bigger damage on Vetterli (and a one-shot without a bar that comes with it)", you say? It simply does not matter for the new player. The single MOST important stat that every new player in Hunt: Showdown should look for is bullet velocity. Don't listen to anyone who starts saying stuff like: "oh but you have to learn different bullet velocities, thus play with 400m/s that is were all cheap options are(like regular Winfield)" Luckily for the new players Winfield Centennial is available right from the start with 600 m/s velocity and decent damage.
This game is about fast time to kill, so it only natural that new players that are overwhelmed with all kinds of stuff like environment, monsters, other players wouldn't need to worry about leading the target. Because for a new player, ability to shoot back might not occur every game, we need to make those few opportunities as easy as possible.

Dude. Mosin with nagant officer pistol. So ppl dont have to worry about leading bullets with the mosin. And officer for the semi-auto weapon(yes i know its technically not a semi-auto weapon its a double action)
